Troubleshooting
Rest Timer Alerts are not appearing
- Open Profile → Settings in GritRune and confirm Rest Timer Alerts is enabled.
- Open iOS Settings → Notifications → GritRune and confirm notifications are allowed.
- Confirm Lock Screen, Notification Centre, Banners, and Sounds are enabled.
- Check Focus and Scheduled Summary settings, which can delay or silence alerts.
- Rest Timer Alerts only fire while a rest timer is running in the background or the device is locked — they are not needed while GritRune is in the foreground.
The Dynamic Island or Lock Screen timer looks stale
Live Activities update automatically while a rest timer is active. If a countdown looks frozen, ending the current rest timer (or finishing the workout) clears it. Live Activities run entirely on-device and do not depend on a network connection.
A past workout’s weight looks different after switching units
It shouldn’t. GritRune stores every weight canonically in kilograms and only converts it for display and entry. If a value looks wrong after switching between kilograms and pounds, please email a description of the workout and the values you expected — this is exactly the kind of report that’s useful during development.
Restoring a Full Backup
Full Backup and restore are reachable from Profile → Settings → Your Data. Restore previews the backup’s contents and asks for explicit confirmation before replacing your current data, and GritRune keeps a safety backup from immediately before the restore. Data Export, by contrast, is a readable copy for your own records and cannot be restored.
Frequently asked questions
Does GritRune sync between devices?
No. GritRune stores workouts, progression, and preferences locally on your device. There is no account or cloud sync in the current implementation.
How do I delete all app data?
Profile → Settings → Your Data → Delete All Data removes GritRune’s stored workout history, progression, and preferences from the app. Deleting the app itself removes GritRune’s local data from that iPhone; existing Apple device backups may retain a copy until they are deleted or expire under Apple’s policies.
Is GritRune free?
Core workout logging, routine editing, built-in Training Paths, basic history and records, backup and restore, earned progression, Runes, and the Cold Iron Character Card remain free. An optional one-time, non-consumable GritRune Pro purchase unlocks premium Character Card materials, Featured Rune display, and Hallmark Lift personalization. GritRune has no account or subscription.
What is coming to Pro in version 1.4?
- Custom Training Paths: combine your routines into a weekly plan with your own targets. Find them in Routines → Custom Training Paths. Changes to your plan preserve past workouts and earned progress.
- Forge Record: follow lifts, review recorded working-weight trends, compare adjacent 4- or 12-week periods, and open the workouts behind your recorded personal records. Find it in History → Forge Record.
Both features are included for existing lifetime Pro owners when version 1.4 becomes available. There is no new subscription or separate upgrade purchase.
Forge Record uses completed weighted working sets. It excludes warm-ups, skipped exercises, and bodyweight-only sets. The followed-lifts list is a local display preference and is not included in Full Backup; your saved workout history remains backed up.
How do I restore GritRune Pro?
Open Profile → Settings and tap Restore Purchases in the GritRune Pro section. Restoring checks the App Store for an eligible previous purchase. Delete All Data removes local GritRune records and preferences, but it does not remove App Store ownership of GritRune Pro.
